November 3, 2009 Announcements . . . New… Governor’s School applications must be turned in to Dr. Harris by noon on Wednesday, November 4th. New… 6th Annual CTE & PVA Canned Food Drive . . . CTE & PVA students are once again working together to collect food for people in our community. Canned and boxed food can be turned in to your teachers or you can drop them off in Ms. Allison’s room, Mr. Johnson’s room or the counseling office. Bring your donations in anytime between now and Tuesday, December 15th. New… Senior Service Committee will have a meeting on Monday, November 9th after school in Mrs. Allison’s room. We will be discussing a new idea for the Service project. New… Any student interested in being a part of a student-led substance abuse prevention team should meet in Ms. Lisa Barefoot’s classroom on Wednesday, November 4th at 8:45 a.m. The team referred to as SMART will lead activities to prevent the onset of tobacco, alcohol, and other drug use. New… Found: a pair of glasses and a grey hoodie were left at the fall dance. See Mrs. Korty. Congratulations… to the cast of Almost Maine for their win at the Regional NCTC Play festival this weekend. The cast will now advance to the State NCTC competitions later this month. Additional congratulations to Beth Hawkes and Zach Messick who won Excellence in Acting awards. Peer Tutors… Students that have signed up to be peer tutors must attend one of the Peer Tutoring Training Sessions. Sessions will be held on the following dates: November 4th at 8:30 am or during lunch • November 18th at 8:30 am or during lunch Mark your calendars! On Friday, November 6th the Weaver PVA will be a part of the 1st Friday celebrations downtown. Our space will be next to Triad Stage (230 S.Elm St.), so please come by and support our student artists! VIC Cards . . . Re-link your Harris Teeter VIC Card to Weaver Academy. Just log onto www.harristeeter.com and go to Together in Education to re-link using #2889. Anime Club: meets the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month at 4:05 p.m. in Mr. Hughes' room. Environmental Club: next meeting will be November 12th at 8:30 a.m. in Mrs. Korty’s room. The club will be meeting every other Thursday. FCA: will meet on Thursday mornings at 8:00 a.m. in Ms. Holly Barefoot’s trailer. FIRST Robotics Team: meets in Mrs. Morrissett’s room on Wed. from 4:00 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. GSA: next meeting Thursday, November 5th at 8:30 a.m. in the Vocal Room. Meetings will be every other Thursday. Interact Club: will meet Wednesday, November 4th at 8:30 a.m. in Barefoot’s mobile unit. NHS: all new members should turn in their dues by 12:45 p.m. on November 6th Student Council: next meeting will be November 12th at 4:05 p.m. in Mrs. Korty's Room Tabletop Gaming Club: for information, see Amos Cao or Mr. Knudsen. Yearbook: staff will meet every Wednesday at 4:05 p.m. Yoga Club: will meet after school in the dance room on the following upcoming dates November 18th, December 2nd, and December 16th.
