Tom Bader – Construction Technology
  • Teaching Construction Technology since 2003
  • General Contractor for 23 years prior to teaching.  Owned a remodeling company here in Guilford County.
  • B.A. Biology(Hofstra 1976).  I intended on becoming a Biology teacher back then, but waited until later in life.
  • MBA (UNCG 1994)
  • State Licensed General Contractor
  • Married 32+ years/ 2 children/ 1 Grand Daughter/  Grand Son on the way
  • Wife(Gwen) ESL teacher, Jamestown Elementary.  The best teacher I know, and she is my constant inspiration.
  • Daughter(Jaclyn) ; Field Executive with the Girl Scouts(UNCCH grad).Jaclyn is my personality twin.  She has her own Christian rock band.
  • Son(Eric);  MFA(Film) at Florida State(UNCCH under grad).  Eric taught High School and Community College for three years before going back to school.
Hobbies/Interests: Golf, Tae Kwon Do(Black Belt), Softball, Motorcycles(HD of course), Travel(Cruises, Disney World ,Beach), Music.
Course Descriptions

Carpentry I • An introduction to the construction trades. Topics include; Safety, Hand and Power Tools, Blueprints, Materials and Fasteners, Employability and Communication Skills. The focus of this course is now industry based certifications in all these areas.

Construction Technology II • Expanding on Carpentry 1, chapters include: Floor framing, Wall and ceiling framing, Roof framing. Concrete, Windows and Doors, Stair layout, Roofing and Drywall.
