Mitzi Graves – Counselor

I have worked as a school counselor for 15 years, four at Weaver Academy and 11 at Asheboro High School. I completed both my four-year degree in Secondary English Education and my Masters in School Counseling at Appalachian State University. I earned my national boards through NBPTS in 2004 and have also been nationally certified through the National Board for Certified Counselors since 1994. As a counselor, I assist students with personal, social, career, college, and scheduling issues. I also coordinate Weaver Academy’s scholarship program, serve as SAT Champion, sponsor the Weaver Ambassadors, and serve on a number of committees.

Graduated 1993 Ph.D. University of Tulsa Industrial/Organizational Psychology

 Married 41 years with four children scattered from Ithaca, NY to Minneapolis, MN to Fort Worth TX, to Berlin, Germany.

 I am just finishing my fifteenth year in Guilford County Schools, and the fifth year at Weaver.

The College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) is an outstanding FREE resource for students and parents. You will find information on careers and colleges, including career interest inventories. Students may also use this site to apply to all North Carolina colleges/universities/community colleges. In addition, CFNC has free test prep and free scholarship searches. Go to www.cfnc.org to learn more.

Register for the SAT www.collegeboard.com

Register for the ACT www.act.org

Complete the Profile (a preliminary financial aid form for seniors that is only required at some college) www.collegeboard.com

Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) after January 1 of your senior year  at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You will need a PIN number to complete the FAFSA. Apply for the PIN number at www.pin.ed.gov in late fall of your senior year.

Need help applying to college?

Mrs. Graves will be available in the computer lab on the following dates to provide assistance with students applying to college online. Sessions will last from 4:15-5:15 and students must sign up in the counseling office. If no one has signed up by 4:00 on the day of the session, that session will not take place.
